Expert: Tottenham could spend £310m this summer as truth revealed

Tottenham could spend £310million this summer after £150million was made available to Antonio Conte.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 24 May, Tottenham announced £150million of equity had been injected into the club.

A statement said the increased capital would be used to provide “greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch.”

After speaking to journalist Alasdair Gold, Wenham claims this money will be added on to funds already available to Conte.

“I did a podcast with Alasdair Gold last week and I asked him the truth about this £150million,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Let’s make sure this doesn’t include whatever budget had already been allocated. It sounds like this £150million is already on top of the money that was already there.

“You get £60million just for qualifying for the Champions League so there is £210million right there.

“Then you add on player sales to that, I think there is £100million there, so that’s £310milion.

“Then we have serious money to spend. The signings in January proved that you can sign really good players without spending loads of money.

“I think there could be a mix of clever recruitment as well as making room for a marquee signing as well.”

Tottenham finished fourth in the 2021-22 Premier League.

They will return to next season’s Champions League after playing in the Europa Conference League during the recently-concluded campaign.
