Expert: Tottenham facing 'impossible' Sergio Reguilon situation 'from what I've heard'
Tottenham will not terminate any of their unwanted players’ contracts if they can not secure loan moves in January.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Monday (21 November), Estadio Deportivo reported that Atletico Madrid will try to terminate Sergio Reguilon’s loan deal during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old defender has only made one appearance for the club so far this season, totalling 21 minutes of action.
Similarly, Winks, who is on loan at Sampdoria, has yet to play for his loan club.
Winks, 26, is under contract until the summer of 2024 while Reguilon is tied down until the summer of 2025, as a result, Wenham insists Spurs are not in a position to terminate the duo’s deals.

“I think termination is impossible,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Those players do have market value to some degree. I also think Winks and Reguilon aren’t bad eggs compared to some of the other players we want to get rid of.
“We have terminated contracts in the past but that was for the likes of Adebayor or Benoît Assou-Ekotto, people who had personality issues at the club.
“It was better to get them out of the building.
“Winksy is a good, honest, solid pro and Reguilon, from what I’ve heard, just get’s on with stuff and is no bother at all.
“So I don’t ever see that happening with those players.”
