Expert: Yosuke Ideguchi needs 'miracle' to save Celtic career - 'his days are numbered'

Yosuke Ideguchi’s “days are numbered” at Celtic after a fresh injury blow.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s struggle to regain fitness.

Ideguchi, 25, joined Celtic in January but has only been able to make six appearances due to a knee injury.

On 26 July, the Scottish Sun reported the midfielder will now miss the start of the season after suffering a fresh injury blow.

As a result, McLeish now claims Ideguchi will struggle to make his mark at the club.

“He seems to be plagued by injuries,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild

“It just seems as though it isn’t going to happen for him at Celtic. You kind of get that feeling when you don’t see a player appearing for such a long time and then about niggles.

“Very rarely does that end in a happy ending, in terms of his Celtic future. It would strike me that he may not be able to fulfil what Postecoglou has seen in him.

“He’s now got to go to a certain standard to get into that Celtic team, they are the league champions.

“The players who won that title will be more determined than ever to hold onto their places. So unless Ideguchi performs a minor miracle then his days are numbered at Celtic.”

Ideguchi was afforded 28 minutes of action during the Hoops’ final game of the 2021-22 season.

This took his total minutes of action in a Celtic shirt to 134.
