Barnsley right-back Andy Yiadom won’t be making a summer reunion with his former manager Paul Heckingbottom at Leeds, and fans are delighted.
The news was reported by Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post, who claimed that despite serious interest, Leeds were not totally convinced, despite the player being available for free.
Phil Hay reported the news on his personal Twitter page on Thursday morning.

no, there was a genuine interest there. But Leeds weren't totally convinced.

Yiadom was then announced by Reading on Thursday evening.

It means that despite being linked with a number of players, Leeds are yet to take the plunge and it’s made a couple of fans wonder whether it means Heckingbottom is on his way out.
Another fan said that Heckingbottom was a “loser” who couldn’t even convince his old players to join, although that suggests he hasn’t really read or understood the story.

Either way, Yiadom will be playing his football for Reading next season – and Leeds fans aren’t bothered in the slightest.

Save the wages for players we need. Good decision

This signing for me would have signalled a stay of execution for Hekinbottom (as it's his guy). Maybe this decision points to a possible change in management? #lufc

Leeds knocked back in their hopes of playing a team of 11 right backs 😂

Good move from Leeds. Too many times we've signed a player for the wrong position for the sake of it & ayling has the right back spot. If de bock isn't the answer or Pearce then we need a left footed left back.

An indication that Heckingbottom isn't getting his way…?
— Sophie Levin (@sophielevin11) May 17, 2018
I’m sure the interest was cos he was ‘free’. But with Ayling, Berardi, Coyle and young Hosannah already here, it’s arguably the strongest position we have. Although. the lad does play LB too, but another ‘right footed left back’ ain’t ideal. #LUFC

Fair point. I think it will show where the players come from what input he has had, if they are from Serie B or 2. Bundesliga you’d imagine Heckinbottom has little/no input other than simply a ‘yes or no’ approval. The Hernandez signing would be a big signing for him though.

Never understood the interest in Yiadom. Thought he was poor against us, I'd much rather give Coyle a go especially after the season he had
— Aaron Morphew (@AaronMFenero) May 17, 2018
That’s because PH doesn’t have a say & let’s be honest I’ll doubt his here after the summer
