Leeds United are in the running to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo this summer, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

Sky Bet have priced the Championship giants as 16/1 third favourites to land the forward, 30, before the transfer window shuts at the start of September.

Leeds are behind only Turkish club Besiktas and Premier League outfit Swansea in the betting for the signature of the 21-times Spain international.

Negredo has been linked with a move to Leeds this summer in the Spanish media after the club signed a number of players from his country following the full takeover of owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The Telegraph claim the Valencia striker is on £100,000-a-week, a salary that was paid in its entirety during his loan to Middlesbrough last season.

Negredo has a fine track record in Spain and also scored 23 goals in his single season at Manchester City in 2013-14 but he did not quite live up to his reputation at Boro.

The Spaniard scored 10 goals in 39 matches to top their goal charts but was unable to prevent their relegation to the second tier.
