Rangers are in the running to sign Derby striker Darren Bent in January, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

BetVictor have the Light Blues priced at 10/1 joint-fourth favourites to snap up Bent, 33, next month, suggesting Graeme Murty and Mark Allen may be in the hunt for a new striker after Kenny Miller suffered a ruptured hamstring.

Burton (2/1) are the clear favourites to sign up the ex-England international during the transfer window while Barnsley (8/1) and his former club Charlton (8/1) are joint-second favourites.

Bolton (10/1) and Scunthorpe (10/1) are thought to be level pegging with Rangers in the pursuit of Bent, which seems likely to kick off next month with the striker just months away from his contract expiring.

The Derby Telegraph reports that a number of players at Pride Park are just months away from their deals coming to an end with Bent's set to expire at the end of June.

Bent has been sidelined for the entire season with a hamstring injury but is currently featuring in the development side as he aims to return to action in the New Year.

The ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa forward has been a proven goalscorer during his career, netting 106 goals in 277 Premier League appearances.

He is the 23rd top scorer in Premier League history and has more goals to his name in the competition than Didier Drogba, Matt Le Tissier and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
