West Ham are unlikely to sign midfielder Carlos Soler permanently this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Paris Saint-Germain are keen for the Irons to sign the 28-year-old as they bid to free up a loan spot in order to finalise Randal Kolo Muani's move to Juventus before the 3 February deadline.

It has been widely reported that West Ham have an option to buy Soler for almost £17million.

However, it is believed the London club are prioritising other deals this month after injuries in key areas.

Graham Potter and his transfer team are likely to assess the merits of a permanent swoop for Soler at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The Spain international joined under Julen Lopetegui but has featured in all three fixtures under Potter since his arrival earlier this month.

He has made 19 appearances across all competitions this term, notching one goal and one assist.

The ex-Valencia star, who is under contract in Paris until June 2027, has started in 10 of those outings.

Soler has competed with the likes of Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek and Guido Rodriguez for a spot in the West Ham midfield this term.

The Irons, who spent big in last summer's transfer window, are yet to back Potter with a signing since his arrival earlier in January.

West Ham sit 14th in the Premier League table after losing 2-0 at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday (18 January).

Soler could next be in action when Potter's side face Aston Villa away on Sunday (26 January).
