Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that it would cost £8.8million to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Odsonne Edouard on a permanent basis.

It is understood that the French centre-forward is being eyed up as a long-term successor to Moussa Dembele, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail has previously reported that the option to buy clause in Edouard's loan deal is only £7million, but fresh reports from across the English Channel suggest that the Bhoys would have to splash a lot more in order to snap up the PSG striker.

However the majority of Celtic fans don't seem to mind about the inflated fee, with one saying that Edouard would be "worth every penny".

Other Hoops fans are sceptical about the high fee, however a couple say that the money from Virgil van Dijk's mega-bucks switch to Liverpool could come in handy.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Edouard has made 28 appearances in all competitions since joining Celtic on loan, scoring 11 goals in the process.
