Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Kyogo Furuhashi to be the "talisman" for Celtic this season after they sold Odsonne Edouard.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed Kyogo was "the best player on the pitch" against Rangers at Ibrox at the weekend.

The Japan international started alongside Edouard in the first Glasgow derby of the season in what proved to be Edouard's final game for the Hoops.

Celtic confirmed yesterday (31 August) the Frenchman had sealed a deadline day move to Crystal Palace.

Neither Edouard or Kyogo found the net at Ibrox as Rangers ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a Filip Helander header.

Nevertheless, Kyogo still caught the eye and had a couple of clear-cut opportunities to create or score a goal.

"He was outstanding," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"I thought he was the best player on the pitch.

"Unlucky with a few efforts and he maybe should have squared one but he was outstanding.

"He can be the talisman for Celtic this season, you can tell that already.

"Hopefully he can be the one that gets the goals for them because Edouard has got his move. They're going to need someone else to step up."

Kyogo moved to Parkhead from Vissel Kobe earlier this summer and has already scored seven goals in nine games across all competitions.

The 26-year-old has also chipped in with an assist and is under contract until the summer of 2025.
