Celtic are powerless to stop Jack Hendry engineering a summer move to the Premier League, Football Insider understands.

The centre-back has rejuvenated his career during an impressive spell on loan at Belgian club KV Oostende this season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Oostende are planning to activate the option to convert Hendry's loan into a permanent move.

The cost is said to be £1.75m to the fourth-placed Belgian outfit, but they are lining up a big profit for the defender this summer.

Hendry has attracted interest from Premier League clubs and is keen to make a permanent move to England.

It has been suggested that the Scotland international, 25, would cost around the £10m mark.

But Football Insider has been told his fee is likely to be around half that sum, although it would still mean a bumper profit for Oostende.

There would be eyebrows raised among Celtic fans at barely making any money on a player signed from Dundee for a club-record £1.5m including add-ons in January 2018.

However, the three-times international had been frozen out at Parkhead by former boss Neil Lennon.

He joined Melbourne on loan in January of last year before then agreeing a second overseas loan.

Hendry has made a big impact at Oostende, with 22 league starts among his 23 appearances this season.

At Celtic, he has played only 27 times.
