Kenny hails 'brilliant' Celtic target Baldock after £5m+ bid report
Sheffield United right-back George Baldock is a "brilliant player" and has all the right attributes to be a success for Celtic.
That is according to Blades legend Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hoops-linked 28-year-old.
Sheffield-based outlet the Star reported yesterday (1st July) that Celtic are willing to part with between £5million and £8m for the defender.
The right-back berth is one of concern for Celtic as Anthony Ralston is the only player currently available to Ange Postecoglou who is natural there.
Baldock signed a new deal in December last year and is contracted to the Blades until 2024.
Kenny is desperate to see Baldock remain at Bramall Lane but insists that he would be a hit north of the border if he was to leave.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: "He's 100 per cent got the right attributes to be a success up there in Scotland.
"I think he'd definitely do well at Celtic. He's a brilliant player. I'm surprised Sheffield United want to let him go and I hope he stays.
"He could play a massive part in trying to get back into the Premier League.
"If he does go, I don't see why he couldn't be a really big asset for them and trying to win that title back from Rangers."
Celtic sold right-back Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen in January.
They later signed Jonjoe Kenny on loan who has since returned to his parent club Everton.
