Celtic are likely to see their revenue increase again this season due to the extra cash on offer from playing in the Champions League.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Glasgow giants are “unique” because they are the only Scottish side playing in European football’s premier club competition.

Celtic posted their 2023-24 accounts on 16 September, revealing their revenue rose from £119.9million to a new club-record £124.6million – marking a 3.9 per cent increase on the previous year.

Brendan Rodgers’s side’s qualification for the Champions League, Scottish Premiership title success and Scottish Cup victory ensured they also recorded a profit for the third year in a row.

Celtic have enjoyed a strong start to the season after winning all five of their league games and progressing through to the Scottish League Cup semi-finals with a 5-2 victory over Falkirk.

They also came out on top in their opening game of the new league-phase of the Champions League after beating Slovan Bratislava 5-1.

Celtic revenue to increase after on-field progress

Borson expects the club’s revenue to increase again this season as they continue to make steps forward on the pitch.

He told Football Insider: “£125million is quite a lot.

“Celtic are not completely unique, but they are largely unique because they have got the Champions League aspect.

“They obviously just got a very big win last week.

“You get money for each win, so it’s a very good start for them.

“They are probably going to beat £125million for the current year.”
