Man United and goalkeeper David de Gea are still yet to reach an agreement over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Red Devils want the 32-year-old to take a pay cut in order to extend his stay at the club - with his current deal set to expire in June.

De Gea's reported £375,000-a-week wage makes him the highest earner at Man United - but the giants are looking to cut their wage bill.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Spaniard is "happy" at the club - but has been left unsatisfied with all offers made in negotiations thus far.

Talks are ongoing as Man United try to prevent De Gea from walking away from Old Trafford for free in the off-season.

The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper has been a mainstay for Erik ten Hag's side this term.

He has racked up 47 appearances across all competitions, and helped Man United to victory in the League Cup in February - the club's first trophy since 2017.

De Gea kept his 14th Premier League clean sheet of the 2022-23 campaign in the win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday (16 April).

The former Spain international now leads the race to win the top-flight's Golden Glove award this term- ahead of Newcastle's Nick Pope and Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale.

Dean Henderson, who previously challenged De Gea for the number one berth at Old Trafford, is set to return to the club after his Nottingham Forest loan ends this summer.

Man United

Man United sit third in the Premier League and are still in the running to win the Europa League and FA Cup this season.

De Gea and Ten Hag's side will face off against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final second leg on Thursday (20 April) with the tie finely poised at 2-2.
