Everton join pursuit of £50m-rated PL striker as Silva revolution takes shape - report

Published on

Everton’s new manager Marco Silva wants to make a giant summer move for West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic this summer, according to a report.

The Sun claims that the Toffees want to try land the £50million-rated sensation and that they are not fazed by his huge price tag, with a backing from owner Farhad Moshiri.

It is understood that Manchester United are also in the running for his signature and remain favourites as it stands.

The report details Everton could swoop early for West Ham’s talisman and feels he would light up Goodison Park.

Football Insider verdict:

It seems like Silva is not messing about following his arrival at the Merseyside club and it would really lay down a marker if he managed to bring Arnautovic to Everton in the early weeks of the transfer window. The Austria international can be unplayable on his day and really enjoyed a purple patch of form for West Ham this season. He scored 11 goals and supplied eight assists in just 35 appearances for the Hammers, playing a key role in their Premier League survival. Arnautovic is a colossus attacker that can be deployed as a left-winger, but also found great success in a more central role in recent months at the London Stadium. Everton are crying out for some extra attacking ammunition and needs some goalscorers to match Silva’s attacking philosophy. Arnautovic is proven in the Premier League and it’s likely he could hit the ground running, but £50million would be a slight risk for the 29-year-old.
In other Everton news, they must abandon their £40m pursuit and turn their attention to a Championship flyer.
