£70K-a-wk PL wide man loved by Scholes keen on Everton talks after loan bid tabled - Times

Everton are firmly in the race to sign Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw this summer, according to a report.
The Times claim that the 22-year-old wide man is almost certain to bring an end to his unhappy four-year spell at Old Trafford after his latest public humiliation from manager Jose Mourinho.
It is said that Everton are interested in landing Shaw permanently in the forthcoming transfer window after United snubbed their loan move for the player in the January window.
The Times report that the England international is keen to hold talks with the Merseysiders but will want assurances about the club's future plans.
United chief executive Ed Woodward reportedly does not want to sell Shaw, but the possibility of him leaving as a free agent next summer means an exit is likely.
The Daily Star claim that Shaw earns £70,000-a-week at United.
Speaking on BT Sport 1 in the wake of their live coverage of United's FA Cup win over Brighton on Saturday night, Man United legend Paul Scholes revealed he was a huge admirer of Shaw and was critical of how Mourinho had handled him.
"For me I think he could be brilliant but his manager will still find something wrong with him," Scholes said. "It is disappointing because when Luke Shaw came you thought, 'what a player that is and he could be the best'.
"It's a relationship that come the summer will end. It keeps going on and on but he isn't playing games."

With Leighton Baines at the veteran stage of his career and no left-back successor secured, Everton could do far worse than release Shaw from his Old Trafford hell. The defender has suffered at the hands of Jose Mourinho's sledgehammer management, but he is young enough and good enough to be a top-notch Premier League performer. With his contract due to expire in the summer of 2019, it makes sense for all parties that a deal is done this summer. Everton should look to tie up an early window deal for the former Southampton man.
