Exclusive: Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke lands extra £1.8bn

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has seen his fortune increase by more than £1.8billion over the past year, sources have told Football Insider.

Kroenke hasn’t always been a popular figure among Arsenal fans, with many questioning his intentions since investing in the club in 2007.

The American billionaire increased his shareholding over several years before buying Arsenal outright in 2018.

The 78-year-old also owns the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Mammoth alongside commercial property across North America and Europe.

Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index has revealed Kroenke has seen his personal wealth surge by £1.85billion over the past year to £17.28billion, making him the 102nd richest person in the world.

Mikel Arteta under pressure after latest Arsenal deals

Arsenal haven’t typically spent big in the transfer market in recent years despite Mikel Arteta turning them into genuine title contenders.

There have been questions asked about Arsenal’s profit and sustainability (PSR) situation, with some suggesting they could be close to the spending limit.

However, finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Arsenal don’t have any PSR issues after Kroenke green lighted a heavy spending spree in the latest transfer window.

The Gunners spent around £250million after signing Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Noni Madueke and Piero Hincapie over the past few weeks.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider Arteta is now under pressure to deliver Arsenal a trophy following the new additions at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners boss, whose sole major trophy came in the FA Cup success over Chelsea in 2020, has led his side to back-to-back second-place finishes in the Premier League over the past two years.

Arsenal agree multiple last-ditch deals

Arsenal managed to move on some fringe players before the transfer window closed on Monday (1 September), with Oleksandr Zinchenko agreeing a last-ditch loan to Nottingham Forest.

Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Viera also completed loan moves on the final day as the Gunners looked to trim their squad following their heavy spending.

Elsewhere, Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney, Jorginho and Takehiro Tomiyasu left the Emirates this summer.
