Tottenham are paying out more than £1million per week to players currently sidelined through injury, sources have told Football Insider

Thomas Frank has endured a difficult start to life at Spurs, but the injury situation isn’t helping his cause.

Tottenham started their 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday (1 February) without 11 first-team players.

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, who was withdrawn at half-time through illness, took to social media on Monday (2 February) to vent his frustrations at the situation, labelling it “disgraceful” his side only had 11 senior players available against Man City

Danso’s wage is worth £65k per week, while Bergvall is on £60k and Spence is understood to be the lowest earner of the injured stars at £40k.

How Tottenham responded to injury crisis in January transfer window

Despite the injury crisis, Tottenham decided against strengthening heavily in the January transfer window.

Spurs signed midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid for around £35m, with Brazilian left-back Souza joining from Santos for £13m.

It was believed the north London giants could bring in more new faces before the window closed on Monday, but there was little activity.

James Wilson joined on loan from Hearts, with Spurs holding an option to buy the 18-year-old striker at the end of the season.
