Exclusive: Wigan Athletic reject £6.5m bid from giants
Wigan Athletic have rejected a £6.5million bid from AC Milan for defender Antonee Robinson, Football Insider understands.
The Italian giants have been chasing the 22-year-old all January as they look to bolster their left-back options and have now firmed up their interest with an official offer.
A source at the DW Stadium has told Football Insider that the seven-figure proposal has been rebuffed by the Championship strugglers as they look to hold onto the American international past Friday's deadline.
However, having seen their initial offer rejected, it remains to be seen if the Italians will come back with an improved offer for his capture before the close of the transfer window on Friday.
The flying full-back has impressed for Wigan since joining Paul Cook's men on a permanent deal from Everton last summer following a successful loan deal the previous season.
With Cook and his men sitting 22nd in the Championship table, they are reluctant to lose one of their best players as they look to battle against relegation from the second tier this season.
In other Wigan Athletic news, it can be REVEALED that the club could have to fight off interest from a Championship rival for one of their attackers.
