Report: Leeds 28-year-old to have contract ripped up, set to re-join former club
Leeds goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, 28, is set to exit Elland Road and join former club Eintracht Frankfurt, according to a report.
Bild claim that Frankfurt are looking for a back-up for number one keeper, Frederik Rönnow, who they have signed from Brondby.
It hasn't been a good season for Wiedwald since he signed as Leeds number one last summer for £450k from Werder Bremen.
He made 28 Championship appearances, but was dropped first for veteran Andy Lonergan, and then again for youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell towards the end of the season.
He never regained his place between the sticks and it seemed inevitable that he would leave Leeds this summer.
Now, Bild are claiming that his contract will be cancelled, clearing the way for him to move back to his former club.

Wiedwald has been a disaster at Leeds and it's better for all concerned that this deal goes through. Some fans have been joking that it might be impossible to find a buyer for the 28-year-old keeper, but that seems to have been sorted with this solution, with Leeds happy to rip up his deal, which doesn't expire until 2020, in a bid to get him off their books. Wiedwald was understudy at Eintracht Frankfurt before, and now it looks like he's set to reprise the role again, this time playing under Frederik Rönnow. The one good thing about Wiedwald is that it led inadvertently to the discovery of young Bailey Peacock-Farrell who has been a revelation this season. Leeds still need another keeper – either as number one or to play under Peacock-Farrell, but it won't be Wiedwald. We're expecting more first-team players to leave Elland Road soon, with new manager Marcelo Bielsa set to reshape the squad in his image, clearing the deck for (hopefully) lots of new players for an assault on the play-offs next season.
