Celtic shouldn't sign Dominik Livakovic or any other big money goalkeeper this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said Joe Hart adds so much to the squad that the Celts don't need to go out and spend big on an alternative.

Brendan Rodgers is believed to have made signing a new goalkeeper a priority to provide cover and competition for current number one Hart.

But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (16 July), the 26-year-old is set to join Turkish side Fenerbahce in a deal worth around £7.7million.

Hutton suggested missing out on a deal for the Croatian might be a blessing in disguise for the Hoops.

"He is an excellent goalkeeper, I think he has been brilliant but do I think they need to spend that sort of money on a goalkeeper? Not for me," he told Football Insider.

"I think Joe Hart brings so much to the team. Is he going to be the next Ederson where he is shelling balls out left, right and centre? No because that is not his game.

"I think he gives you other things, his shot-stopping, his ability to organise defences, his experience.

"I do not see why Celtic would want to go and spend that sort of money on another goalkeeper.

"I think they are a strong squad and I do not think they need to be piling money onto the goalkeeping position at this moment in time."
