Celtic fans have been left stunned after Man City were linked with a shock move to sign Kyogo Furuhashi before the transfer deadline on 30 August.

Reports claimed the English champions have already held initial talks about the possibility of a move as they want to sign another forward this summer.

After losing Julian Alvarez earlier in the transfer window, Pep Guardiola's side have been scouring the market for a quality replacement.

Kyogo, 29, emerged as a surprise option after his impressive record at Parkhead has seen him find the net 73 times in 135 games, while providing 16 assists.

However, he has struggled with injury problems in recent weeks after suffering a reoccurring blow to his shoulder which has fans concerned about his availability.

The news of City's interest has led Celtic fans to name the prices they would accept for their main man - with many settling for a fee of £50million.

Guardiola and the transfer team at the Etihad have endured a slow transfer window so far but could spring into action to replace Alvarez in the closing stages.

Kyogo excels in his movement off the ball and positional sense - something which would benefit City's attacking play given the number of chances they create.

Taking to social media in reaction to the latest development, fans insisted they would be powerless to keep the Japan international should City formalise their interest.

Others, meanwhile, are growing tired of the transfer window after a disappointing summer at Parkhead with regard to strengthening the squad.
