£40K-a-wk player gives Leeds green light after confirmed £9m Radrizzani deal - report

Leeds United have moved a step closer to signing Abel Hernandez after being told the player is interested in a move to Elland Road, according to a report.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim United are willing to fund a stunning deal for the Hull City striker, even though he earns £40,000-a-week on a contract that expires next month.
It is said that the Uruguay international has given the green light to Leeds' interest and that owner Andrea Radrizzani is willing to finance the deal after paving the way for new investment by registering £9million of new Leeds shares this month through his firm Greenfield.

It appears that Leeds' pursuit of Hernandez isn't just a PR play to win over disgruntled fans and show them they mean business in this summer's window. United are in actual hot pursuit of one of the most attractive free agents available for Championship clubs this summer. Little wonder there is a stampede of interest, given Hernandez is a free agent and has a superb record in England's second tier. The Uruguayan has netted 28 goals from 49 Championship fixtures and a lethal eight from 10 appearances this season before an achilles injury cruelly cut short his campaign. One good piece of news for Leeds; Hernandez definitely won't be staying at Hull. He has snubbed what Tigers manager Nigel Adkins called “one hell of a contract”, two years after Aston Villa tabled a £20million bid for the player. Leeds have been given encouragement that Hernandez is interested. Now, Radrizzani must finance a package that can get the deal done. He would be blockbuster signing if it were to happen.
