Liverpool ace close to £8m deal: Celtic must make eleventh hour move to form Rodgers reunion
COMMENT By Will Butcher
Brendan Rodgers should form another reunion at Celtic by raiding former side Liverpool with a late move to sign midfielder Kevin Stewart.
Stewart, 23, is surplus to requirements at Anfield after making just nine first-team appearances under manager Jurgen Klopp last season, and he needs a move to reignite his career.
Times correspondent Paul Joyce revealed on his personal Twitter account that the holding midfielder was in fact on his way to sign for Championship side Hull City.
It is said that a deal to sign the former Tottenham star would cost up to £8million, despite his lack of Premier League experience with the Merseyside giants.
Football Insider considers just how Stewart would be crucial in seeing Celtic remain the team to beat, as they look to continue their dominance with another domestic treble.
Here are three reasons why, with Stewart looking to get his career back on track and using a mirror of one of Celtic's current heroes to do just that:

Brown needs a partner
Scott Brown has seen a number of midfielders attempt to partner him in Rodgers' 4-2-3-1 system, but Rodgers could not settle on one player.
Callum McGregor was inconsistent, while Nir Bitton could leave the club this summer after failing to have any kind of impact despite starting as first choice.
Kouassi Eboue has been given little chance since signing from Russian side Krasnodar and Stewart would end those concerns in the middle of the park.

Rodgers reunion
Rodgers will know just what Stewart is capable and can offer the Celtic side after working with the Reds midfielder during his time as manager of the Merseyside giants.
During his three-year spell as manager, Rodgers opted to sign Stewart from Premier League rivals Tottenham on a free transfer back in 2014.
However, the move has since turned sour with Stewart only clocking up 11 Premier League appearances in that time.

Scott Sinclair model
Stewart's career is currently in need of a kick start and he may look at Scott Sinclair's move north of the border as an example of reignited one's time in football.
Former Swansea ace Sinclair joined Man City after starring for the Welsh side, but his career declined from them on in, ending with relegation during a spell with Aston Villa.
But last season, after a move north of the border, Sinclair scored 25 goals and Stewart will be hoping that if Celtic do indeed look to sign him, he can do the same.
