Liverpool should give Mohamed Salah a £450,000-a-week four-year contract if he wants it, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Salah stole the show in Sunday's thrilling 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Man City.

Salah provided the assist for Sadio Mane's opening goal before scoring Liverpool's second with a stunning solo effort.

The winger's current Anfield contract expires in the summer of 2023.

The Athletic reported yesterday (October 4) that negotiations over a new deal are yet to reach an agreement.

A £450,000-a-week four-year deal would cost Liverpool £93.6million in wages alone.

"When you see his performance and you see what he did, you see some players in the Premier League are on £300,000, £350,000-a-week, Mo Salah deserves £400,000, £450,000-a-week and four years," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"He's showing he's the best player in the league. Even someone like Ronaldo, there's no reason why Mo Salah shouldn't be on as much money as Ronaldo. He's probably going to score more goals and be more effective on Liverpool than Ronaldo will be at Man United.

"I don't blame him for asking for what he deserves. There's nothing more a player wants in his career than getting paid what they deserve. Does Salah need that money? Probably not but you want what you deserve.

"He should get paid what he wants. Without Mo Salah, Liverpool probably wouldn't finish in the top four. They rely on him so much. Look at his assist for Mane's goal, the run and then his finish.

"Liverpool need to just give whatever he wants. It would cost £150million to replace him and there's nobody even out there to replace him."
