Manchester United could earn up to £25million a year if they can agree a stadium naming rights deal, sources have told Football Insider

Sports business expert Lukasz Baczek exclusively revealed to Football Insider there is likely to be significant interest from companies looking to secure a deal with Man United.

The Athletic reported the Premier League giants are considering selling the naming rights to a refurbished Old Trafford or a newly-built stadium.

It comes as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to drive up Man United’s revenues after securing a 27.7 per cent stake in the club for £1.25billion earlier this year.

Sources say a naming rights deal for the £74,000-seater stadium or a brand new development would likely bring in between £20-25million a year due to the club’s global standing.

Man United naming rights deal could exceed Man City agreement

Ratcliffe has been exploring various potential avenues to fund the stadium project since his arrival at Old Trafford in February.

Talks are believed to have taken place with major financial institutions after reports suggested a new stadium could cost around £2billion.

A naming rights deal is one way for Ratcliffe to source some extra revenue as he looks to help the club catch up with their competitors.

Man United

Manchester City currently earn the most in the Premier League from naming rights as Etihad Airways pays around £15million to sponsor their stadium as part of the Abu Dhabi airline’s £80million annual contribution to the club.

Barcelona’s stadium naming rights and kit sponsorship deal with Spotify is by far the biggest in football, with the streaming company paying the La Liga giants £236million over four years.
