Mohamed Salah's agent will advise him to run down his contract at Liverpool to secure an improved offer amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

This is according to experienced transfer expert and former chief scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider the winger will be encouraged to take his time and weigh up his offers before committing to a deal.

With less than a year remaining on his current deal, Salah will be free to discuss a move away from Anfield in January, with Saudi outfits circling.

Big-money offers are expected to arrive from the Middle East, while Liverpool remain keen on a contract extension, and the longer the situation drags on, the more desperate both sides will become.

As a result, the 32-year-old's agent will be delaying any commitment to either side to see how much they are willing to offer before a decision is made.

Brown explained that the winger's agent will play a huge role in his potential destination, but no decision is likely to be made until later this season.

Brown, who has dealt with agents at top clubs before, having worked for the likes of Man United, Tottenham and West Ham, claimed they will wait to see what Liverpool are prepared to offer in their bid to their star man at the club.

"His agents will tell him to run his contract down and see what Liverpool do to keep him," Brown told Football Insider.

"I would think that, from his point of view and backed by his agents of course, they'll see how much the club are prepared to push to boat out to keep him.

"If they don't, they've got the other option and they'll go to Saudi.

"He's going to have a huge offer from there so there won't be any concerns about his money, but the agent will want to see what Liverpool can offer."
