Rangers news: Pundit issues Ryan Jack contract claim amid source's injury update
Frank McAvennie has suggested Ryan Jack will sign a new Rangers contract before the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the Gers won't be able to sell Jack given his poor injury record.
The 30-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his Ibrox contract.
As quoted by the Scotsman last month (30 September), the midfielder said he is happy to put new contract talks on the backburner and claimed nothing has been "spoken about" to him or his agent.
The Scotland international is currently sidelined after picking up an injury in the 7-1 Champions League defeat to Liverpool (12 October).
On 15 October, sources told this site that injuries to Connor Goldson and Ben Davies in the same game were not as bad as first feared, but Jack is set for a spell on the sidelines.
McAvennie said Rangers should offer Jack a new contract as they will struggle to find a buyer for the injury-prone midfielder.
"I think he is a good player when he is fit," he told Football Insider.
"I think he will stay. I do not think anyone would want to sign him. He will want a sign-on fee, he will want bigger money.
"If they sell him, I do not think they will get much money for him. He has been injured quite a lot. Unless you have played consistently without any injuries you are not going to get any money.
"He will not get any anyway because his contract is almost up."
