Rangers are set to concentrate on free and loan signings for the rest of the window unless they can secure a £10million-plus fee this summer for Alfredo Morelos, Football Insider understands.

The Scottish giants have recruited seven new players this summer but the only fee above £300,000 is the £700,000 deal agreed for George Edmunson, who signed from Oldham Athletic last week.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club are open to selling prize asset Morelos, but will not let him go for less than £10million.

There has been widespread interest from clubs in England as well as across European in the Colombian striker but the Light Blues have yet to receive a bid that is close to their valuation.

This means that Rangers' signing plans are up in the air, with much dependent upon whether they can get what would be a club-record fee for Morelos.

Rangers are also keen to offload Kyle Lafferty just 12 months after he joined for the second time, in a £600,000 transfer from Hearts.

The Northern Ireland international would also expect to yield a six-figure sum for the Glasgow giants, and they would then embark on a signing blitz later in the window.

Rangers would look to bring in two senior strikers to provide competition for Jermain Defoe, who is on an 18-month loan from Bournemouth.

Steven Gerrard's striker overhaul would have no bearing on the club's pursuit of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, who he is desperate to re-sign for a second time on a temporary deal.
