Rangers are likely to wait until the end of the season before embarking on a contract bonanza, Football Insider understands.

There were wild celebrations and high emotion in the blue half of Glasgow as the Light Blues were crowned champions of Scotland on Sunday for the first time in 10 years.

For the players themselves, celebrations will be relatively short-lived as the team are back on Europa League duty on Thursday when they travel to Slavia Prague for the last-16 away leg.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider the club put on hold contract talks with existing senior stars to focus on securing a 55th league title.

That is now in the bag but there is still plenty to play for on the European stage.

The Europa League is extremely significant in terms of the club's transfer and playing budget, and progress to the final knockout stages would add multiple millions to the cash available to Steven Gerrard.

Rangers posted a £15.9m loss in their last set of financial accounts last November but their finances are in an increasingly healthy position.

Key to that has been their remarkable Europa League progress in recent campaigns.

Rangers have already earned £8million in guaranteed Uefa income this season and top-up cash is likely to take that beyond £20m.

Should Gerrard's side overcome Slavia Prague at the last-16 stage that will significantly increase the kitty.

The likes of Steven Davis, Allan McGregor, Leon Balogun and Jermain Defoe are out of contract in the summer.

Connor Goldson and James Tavernier have deals that run until 2022, while Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos (both 2023) are the club's prize assets.

Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara are two other key men with deals expiring in 2023.
