Newcastle United could see over £150million spent in the transfer market over the next two years if a takeover from PCP Capital Partners goes through, according to a report.

Reuters claim on their website that the investment firm, fronted by international financier Amanda Staveley, are interested in making a £303million ($400million) bid for the club after Newcastle revealed via a statement that they were up for sale.

The report outlines that PCP view the club as worth in the region of £300million, and if the takeover was completed that they would make major investments in the first team, spending £150million in the first two years at the helm of the club.

The news of a potential bid from Staveley and her investors comes just a day after she was named as a "serious player" in a potential takeover of the north east club by the Telegraph.

The alleged £303million valuation matches up with a study carried out by a senior lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, who said that several key factors culminated into an estimated worth of £300million.

Staveley was first pushed into the spotlight as a potential investor in Newcastle when she was pictured attending the club's home clash against Liverpool, and she reportedly spoke to key officials at the club after the game.
