Leeds United have agreed to pay the entirety of Eddie Nketiah's wages as well as a significant loan fee to sign him from Arsenal, Football Insider understands.

United completed the deadline-day capture of the striker, 20, after reaching an agreement for him to join from the Premier League giants on a season-long loan.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the loan fee for Nketiah is more than £2million and the club will also pay his £35,000-a-week Gunners salary for the 2018-19 campaign.

It amounts to a hugely significant outlay for United in a summer in which they did not spend a single transfer fee on a player and sold a handful of senior stars for major fees.

Nketiah has a reputation as one of the best young attacking players in England and one capable of being a Gunners regular in years to come.

He has already played 19 times for the Arsenal first team, scoring three goals, and has been capped by England at Under-21 level.

He has also scored at a rate of around a goal for the club's Under-23s, Under-18s and various age-group sides.

Leeds completed the capture of the rising star in the final hour of on deadline day, two days after selling Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht for around £6million.

United have also sold Pontus Jansson, Jack Clarke, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Mallik Wilks for £1million-plus fees this summer.
