Revealed: Liverpool to smash record after £200m FSG payout

Liverpool are on track to record their highest-ever matchday revenue in 2023/24 after completing their expansion of Anfield, Football Insider can reveal.

The stadium’s capacity has grown to 61,000 after the Anfield Road stand was redeveloped at a cost of £80million to house 7,000 extra seats.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are confident that the expansion will be ready for the start of the 2023/24 season.

The added seats, including 5,200 new general admission seats and around 1,800 seats with sports bar lounge/hospitality facilities, are set to significantly boost the Merseyside club's matchday revenue.

The Anfield Road expansion took FSG’s stadium investment to over £200million, with the Reds owners previously forking out £110million to redevelop the Main Stand while also investing in a new retail store, pitch and drainage facilities.

The Reds reported a record matchday revenue of £86million in 2021/22, a year in which Jurgen Klopp's side challenged on all fronts and reached the Champions League final.

It was a £3million increase from the 2020/21 campaign, when Liverpool reported matchday revenues of £83million.

Despite failing to qualify for the Champions League this season, Football Insider analysis expects Liverpool to shatter their matchday revenue records in 2023/24.

After adding 8,500 seats to the Main Stand in 2016, Liverpool saw their matchday revenue increase by around £10million for the 2017/18 season.

A similar increase can be expected when Liverpool release their accounts for the 2023/24 season, although the revenue increase will depend on their performances in cup competitions.
