'Something's going to happen' at Rangers after takeover latest - pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed "something is going to happen" with the ownership of Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker claimed the Gers will have to bring in someone new at the top in order to compete with their Glasgow rivals.
As reported by the Daily Record (19 October), American investor Kyle Fox has doubled down on her intentions to buy a huge stake in the Ibrox club.
Fox is believed to have agreements in place to buy a stake of between 25-30 per cent at 40p per share after the club's lawsuit against her was dropped earlier this month.
The deal would see her become the club's biggest single shareholder but chairman Douglas Park and his directors are said to be reluctant to sell up.
Fox had initially proposed to buy a 75 per cent stake in the Light Blues, but the suggestion was shut down by the Rangers board.
McAvennie insisted there will be a change a the top of the Glasgow club.
"I think something is going to happen," he told Football Insider.
"The fans know something is going to happen. The shares are worth nothing now. They keep putting money in and getting money off the fans.
"They got the money from getting into Europe and from what I hear the directors took it, which is quite right. It is a strange one. If they want to get money to compete with Celtic then fine, bring in someone new."
