Arsenal are currently in pole position to land Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is the subject of "lots of interest" - with the Bees set to ask for "£80million minimum" in the off-season.

It is believed Brentford are already assembling a shortlist of striker targets as club chiefs fully expect Toney to move on this summer.

The England international has recently returned to action after a long-term gambling rule breach ban which ended in January.

Arsenal in 'pole position' to land Toney with Brentford already eyeing replacements

He has already hit three goals in four Premier League appearances, helping Brentford pull clear of the relegation zone in vital wins over Nottingham Forest and Wolves.

Toney is only under contract in west London until June 2025 and manager Thomas Frank has admitted he will "probably be sold this summer".

He managed 21 goals and five assists in 35 games across all competitions last season – including a best-ever return of 20 strikes in the Premier League.

Pundits and fans alike have called for Arsenal to draft in a top new striker in the transfer market as they vie to become a permanent fixture in the Premier League title race.

Gabriel Jesus (eight goals) and Eddie Nketiah (six goals) have struggled to hit form in the 2023-24 campaign so far with the Gunners fighting Man City and Liverpool for the league title.
