Sources: Cardiff City reject £2.5m Burnley bid for Isaak Davies
Cardiff City have rejected a £2.5million Burnley bid for forward Isaak Davies, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship club have tabled an offer for the 20-year-old after being impressed by his emergence last season.
Cardiff are holding out for a higher fee for their home-grown star, who is a Wales Under-21 international.
The youngster is yet to appear for The Bluebirds so far in the 2022-23 campaign after missing most of pre-season with a knee injury.
Davies made 11 starts across the Championship and FA Cup as he racked up three goals and three assists in 30 total appearances.
He signed a new contract in March, extending his Cardiff stay until the summer of 2025.
Football Insider revealed (3 March) that the Welsh club were keen to tie Davies down to a long-term deal to fend off growing Premier League interest.
But it is recently-relegated Burnley who have made the first move to prise the versatile attacker away from Cardiff.
Davies joined his boyhood club aged seven and made his first-team debut against Middlesbrough in October 2021.
He has also represented Wales at Under-17, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.
Davies, who can play on both flanks, lead the line, and play as an attacking midfielder, faces stiff competition for a starting berth following Cardiff's summer business.
Steve Morison's side have drafted in Jaden Philogene-Bidace, Ollie Tanner, and Callum O'Dowda during the off-season.
Burnley have lost a number of big-name attackers, including Dwight McNeil, Wout Weghorst, and Maxwel Cornet following their relegation.
Vincent Kompany has targetted Davies as a long-term replacement for their departed stars as he attempts to return the Clarets to the Premier League.
