Premier League clubs are monitoring Taylor Harwood-Bellis' situation at Southampton, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old is keen to restore his place in the England senior squad by playing at the highest level - either in the English top flight or in a top European league.

Harwood-Bellis is one of several players Southampton will be fighting to keep at the club following their relegation to the Championship.

Porto have reportedly seen a bid of around £20million rejected in recent days.

Nevertheless, Premier League clubs are weighing up a potential swoop to bring the one cap, one goal England international back to the top flight before the September deadline.

He made 38 appearances across all competitions last term in his first full season as a regular starter in the English top division, scoring three goals.

Southampton signed Harwood-Bellis from Man City on an initial loan in 2023 which became permanent following their promotion via the play-offs.

He is under contract at St Mary's Stadium until June 2028.

Southampton set sights on Scotland star

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (25 June) that Southampton are stepping up efforts to sign Scotland and Sturm Graz right-back Max Johnston to replace Kyle Walker-Peters.

Johnston could be available for around £2.1million after an impressive season in which he helped Graz win the Austrian Bundesliga for the second consecutive season.

New boss Will Still is keen to replace Walker-Peters with a younger player, and Johnston is top of their list of targets as they plan to make a move.
