Leicester City are plotting a move to sign in-demand Blackpool striker Jerry Yates, sources have told Football Insider.

The forward, 26, is a target for a number of clubs this summer following his impressive performances for Blackpool in the just-completed season.

Now Leicester have registered their interest in Yates as they look to reinforce their front line.

Blackpool are facing a battle to keep hold of their prize asset following their relegation from the Championship.

It is believed they have already turned down a £2.5million bid for Yates as they hold out for their £3-4million valuation to be met.

Leicester are in the market for striking reinforcements this summer with doubts surrounding the long-term futures of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho.

They see Yates as someone who help fire them to promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The former Rotherham striker was the outstanding performer for Blackpool last season, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in all competitions despite Blackpool's struggles at the wrong of the table.

Leicester could face competition for his signature as Rangers watched Yates in action for Blackpool in their win against Preston North End last seasonsources told Football Insider.

He is naturally a centre-forward but is also comfortable playing off either flank having contributed to eight goals in his career when playing on the wing.

He signed for Blackpool from Rotherham united in July 2020 and has gone on to score 46 goals and provide 18 assists in 139 outings for the club.
