Sources: Major update on Burnley selling Tarkowski as £7m West Ham bid mooted
Burnley are doubling down on blocking James Tarkowski from leaving in January and plan to reject all offers for him, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
This site revealed on 16th November that the Clarets intended to knock back interest in the centre-back in the mid-season window.
A Burnley source has now told Football Insider that manager Sean Dyche has no intention of letting Tarkowski, 28, go, regardless of his contract situation.
In turn, the player accepts his fate and is willing to stay and leave on a free upon the expiration of his deal next summer.
Burnley have offered to make the defender the best-paid player in the club's history.
But he has turned down all offers of an extension and wants to join a club challenging for Europe.
West Ham and Newcastle United have been leading the chase for the defender.
The Irons have been linked with a potential £7million January bid for a player Burnley valued last year at £35m.
David Moyes's side are in the market for a centre-half after Angelo Ogbonna suffered an ACL injury.
As revealed by Football Insider (29th November), the Hammers have also set their sights on Liverpool's Nathaniel Phillips.
The London club are laying the groundwork for a potential deal in January.
Burnley signed Tarkowski from Brentford in a £3.6million deal in 2016.
The centre-back has gone on to make 195 appearances across all competitions for the club.
