Sources: West Ham open talks to sell Yarmolenko at £16m loss
West Ham have opened Andriy Yarmolenko talks with Fenerbahce after slashing his asking price, Football Insider has learned.
The Turkish club are working on a deal to lure the winger, who turns 32 in October, after being given the green light by the Irons.
A West Ham source has told Football Insider that David Moyes has deemed Yarmolenko surplus to requirements and the club are keen to get him off their wage bill.
The Ukraine international has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the London Stadium and will be offloaded at a huge loss.
West Ham are willing to sell him for around £2million after paying Borussia Dortmund £18million to acquire his services in 2018.
Yarmolenko was one of Ukraine's standout performers at Euro 2020 despite a frustrating campaign domestically.
His five appearances in the competition yielded two goals and two assists, including a goal of the tournament contender against the Netherlands.
The arrivals of Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Jesse Lingard saw Yarmolenko slip down the pecking order at the London Stadium.
He made just 21 appearances for the Hammers last season, of which only one was a Premier League start.
In total, he has contributed 10 goals and six assists in 54 games for the Irons.
West Ham have already offloaded one big earner in Felipe Anderson this summer.
Anderson has returned to Lazio on a permanent deal, three years after he left the Italian club to join the Hammers in a £36million deal.
