Tottenham are set for fresh talks today as they look to prise defender Joe Rodon from Swansea City in the domestic window, Football Insider understands.

The Londoners are keen to beat West Ham to the signing of the centre-back, 22, ahead of the 16 October cut-off.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are now ready to table an offer for Rodon of around £13million after being give hope of a potential deal.

The Championship club are said to want upwards of £15m for their academy product.

But Tottenham could loan Rodon back for this season, with an option to recall him in January if needed.

Rodon has entered the final two years of his contract and is said to be keen to make the step up to the Premier League.

He has played the full 90 minutes of all four of Swansea's league matches this season as well as representing Wales in their 3-0 defeat to England at Wembley on Thursday night.

Tottenham signed six senior stars during the summer window that closed on Monday night led by the headline re-signing of Gareth Bale.

But one area that fell short was in presenting Jose Mourinho with the centre-back he wanted after deals for Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar and Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger collapsed late in the window.

Rodon broke into the Swansea side after their demotion from the Premier League in 2018.

The 6t 3in powerhouse has played 54 times for the club, 52 of which have come in the Championship, and is rated one of the best central defenders outside of the top flight.
