Tottenham have reportedly tabled a £19.4million bid for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie - and fans have taken to Twitter to give mixed views to the pursuit.

Less than 24 hours later, Italian transfer site Calcio Mercato reported that Spurs have tabled a bid of nearly £20million for the 19-year-old.

Kessie has a soaring reputation as a result of his performances in central midfield over the last two seasons, firstly on loan a Serie B outfit Cessena and then for parent club Atalanta in the current campaign.

The Ivory Coast international who does not turn 20 until next week, has been a mainstay for Atalanta this season, scoring six goals and supplying two assists from 15 appearances in all competitions.

Some Spurs fans expressed excitement about the reported bid but are keen to find out more information about Kessie, who is not well known among English football fans.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Spurs secured two home league wins last week, against Hull and Burnley, to cement their place in fifth in the table.

Pochettino has stressed that his side can still win the title even though they are 10 points adrift of runaway leaders Chelsea.
