Tottenham sent scouts to watch Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi in action on Friday night, Football Insider sources understand.

The Premier League title chasers are one of a number of elite clubs closely monitoring the 22-year-old Belgium international.

Spurs are in the market for a new forward in the summer, with West Brom's Saido Berahino high on their priority list.

Batshuayi has also caught the north Londoners' attention with his performance for French side Marseille.

They sent scouts to watch his club take on Rennes at the Stade Velodrome on Friday night,

The spearhead has scored 18 goals in 41 Marseille appearances this season, including 13 in Ligue 1, and is understood to be keen on a summer move to the Premier League.

Spurs manager Maurcio Pochettino is said to be keen on a detailed assesssment of Batshuayi, including how he performs in more difficult assignments against the stronger teams and away from home.
