West Ham are ready to sanction the sale of Jordan Hugill to Preston North End for a £5million loss, Football Insider understands.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier today, the striker is in advanced negotiations to re-join the Championship club 18 months after his £8million transfer to the London Stadium.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that the two clubs are discussing a fee of around £3million for Hugill.

The Premier League club are willing to let the 27-year-old move on this summer despite selling senior duo Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez this summer, and releasing Andy Carroll.

Preston manager Alex Neil is eager to take Hugill back to Deepdale a week after selling Callum Robinson to Sheffield United for £6million.

Hugill has made only three appearances for West Ham and spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored seven goals in 41 appearances.

He has been unable to match his exploits at Preston, where he was regarded as one of best spearheads in the Championship and netted 30 goals in 114 appearances.

West Ham are in the market for at least two strikers in the final fortnight of the summer window, after failing in bids to sign Maxi Gomez, Salomon Rondon and Callum Wilson.
