Leicester City have been beaten to the signing of Jeonbok Hyundai striker Gue-Sung Cho, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club, as well as second-tier rivals Watford and Blackburn Rovers, held talks over signing the 25-year-old this summer.

But FC Midtjylland have agreed a £2.5million deal for Cho to win the race for his signature.

The Danish club have a full agreement to complete the deal soon.

Cho came to prominence at last year’s World Cup in Qatar when he scored two goals against Ghana, becoming the first South Korean player to ever score a brace in a World Cup match.

He made his senior debut for South Korea on in September 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Lebanon and has gone on to play 24 times for his country, scoring six goals.

At club level, Cho has already notched six goals and one assist in 13 games this season - with the K-League campaign getting underway in February.

He has made 146 career club appearances across all competitions, managing 57 goals and 17 assists.

The 25-year-old predominantly plays as a striker but can also feature on either flank.

Leicester have already completed two signings following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

Harry Winks and Conor Coady have joined the Foxes, while James Maddison and Youri Tielemans are among the names to already seal exits from the King Power Stadium.
