Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to drool over the club's reported pursuit of Brazil international Lucas Leiva.

The Scottish Sun claim manager Steven Gerrard wants his former Liverpool teammate, 31, as a blue riband signing and to join his Ibrox revolution next season.

It is said that Gerrard is eyeing an ambitious swoop for Lucas a year after he joined Lazio for £5million and that the Brazilian is keen on a move to Glasgow and the opportunity to work again with the Anfield icon.

Lucas ended a 10-year and 346-appearance stay last summer at Liverpool during which he was one of the highest regarded midfield anchormen in the Premier League.

He has been a mainstay of the Lazio side that is fourth in Serie A and are on course to clinch a Champions League spot following the final match of the season this weekend.

Rangers fans are excited about the possibility of such a top-qualify performer, who has accumulated 22 Brazil caps, being at Ibrox next season.
