'Massive' - Exclusive: Whelan raves as Radrizzani seals blockbuster Leeds off-pitch deal
Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani after the club agreed a blockbuster kit deal with sportswear giants Adidas.
The former Coventry and United forward, speaking exclusively with Football Insider, credited Marcelo Bielsa’s men for attracting such an offer, claiming only a “successful side” could.
Football Insider has learned that The Whites have agreed for the German manufacturer to provide the kit from next season, in what will be the first time the club has worn the iconic three stripes in their 100-year history – Kappa supplying the Whites’ kit since 2015.
The value of the deal is said to depend on the outcome of Leeds’ campaign and whether or not they can achieve their long-awaited return to the top division of English football.
Whelan described Adidas as being “very clever” in their decision to provide kits for the ‘biggest club in the Championship’ for the 2020/21 campaign.
“It is very good business from Radrizzani,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“Commercially, Adidas sells. For the club financially, it will be fantastic. Credit the players as well. Only a successful side and a big side (could achieve this).
“We are the biggest supported club in the Championship and possibly top half in the Premier League as well. The magnitude of our football club is massive.
“Credit to the fans as well for shirt sales and for sticking with Leeds week in, week out. Adidas have been clever as well – they have chosen the biggest club in the Championship.”
Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping when the club pulls on the Adidas shirts for the first time next season it will be in the Premier League.
The Whites are currently sitting second in the table, one point behind West Brom.
