Salah is a long way from No1 spot: Five greatest Liverpool strikers named

When it comes to outstanding strikers, be they orthodox number nines or wide forwards in the modern parlance, few clubs are as spoiled for choice as Liverpool.

The men in contention are some of the icons of the game, including history-makers and those still ripping it up at the very highest level.

So, who makes the top five in the Football Insider Liverpool hall of fame?

Is there any place for the modern heroes in Jurgen Klopp’s swashbuckling 2017-18 team? What about the brilliant Roberto Firmino? Or Mohamed Salah, the fastest man to 30 and 40 goals in Liverpool’s history?

Or, is the top five stuffed with the stars of the 1970s and 1980s, who decorated some of finest sides to have ever played on these shores as Liverpool marched to four European Cup triumphs in the space of less than a decade?
