Arsenal fell to a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth in the Premier League on a dismal afternoon in the south coast for the north Londoners on Sunday.
An Alex Iwobi assist was about all Gunners supporters had to celebrate after the loss. But it was too little too late from the attacker and despite his hand in the Hector Bellerin goal, fans were left unconvinced by his all-round game.
Arsene Wenger’s side were without Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil and it was evident that the two were sorely missed as the Gunners lacked firepower.
Iwobi has been criticised for his form of late as well as his inability to find the back of the net – he has one goal in 20 outings.
That, coupled with a night out which broke Arsenal’s 48-hour club policy had led to an outcry to see him dropped from the starting XI.
But Arsene Wenger’s decision to stick with the forward was not one that went down well with the Gunners faithful and his assist did little to appease the feelings of negativity towards the Nigerian-born 21-year-old.
It was Arsenal’s first ever defeat to Bournemouth for a Wenger side that is now without a win in the last three Premier League games and five points off Liverpool in fourth spot.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to react on a post from the club’s official site to show they were not deceived by the attacker’s assist:
