Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for Hull defender Harry Maguire to play backup to current stars Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
However, the defender is far from good enough for Spurs and they should forget signing him with Football Insider selecting three Premier League defenders more worthy of investing in.
The Sun reported on Wednesday that the versatile Holland international could be set for his Manchester United exit with Jose Mourinho eyeing Benfica’s Victor Lindelof.
Now, he could be the perfect replacement for the expected departure of Kevin Wimmer from the side in the summer.
Blind is left footed and can also do a job as a left-back and in the defensive midfield positions.
Mauricio Pochettino loves a versatile player and at 26 Blind still has a lot to offer and would be a very good signing for Spurs.
The Burnley defender has attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League top sides after starring for the Clarets and he was even called up to the England senior team in October.
The 24-year-old centre-back is only contracted with the Lancashire outfit until 2018, which could see his value plummet in the summer.
He would certainly be a wise investment by Tottenham at his age and would almost certainly prove to be better value for money than Maguire in the future.
Mawson, 23, has been one of the standout stars for a struggling Swansea side this season and he has only improved since Paul Clement’s appointment.
The Welsh side made the decision to bring him in for £5.5million from Championship outfit Barnsley in the summer and he has more than justified that price in his first 23 appearances for the club.
It is likely that Swansea will now be looking for more than double what they originally paid for the Englishman.
However, Tottenham certainly have the money available to afford him and they should get in early before his value increases further.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs fans have urged Daniel Levy to splash out on this European wonderkid in the summer.
