Celtic’s Jack Aitchison burst onto the scene in 2016, scoring on his debut for the Hoops against Motherwell at only 16-years-old.
However, despite making a few first-team appearances in Brendan Rodgers’ first season with the club, he didn’t feature at all last season, despite the Hoops’ injury problems in attack.
Even though the player has just turned 18-years-old, he will have been slightly disappointed that he didn’t make even a sub appearance last season, and played for the development squad instead.
If you are good enough to play for the first-team it doesn’t matter what age you are – just look at Kieran Tierney for example – and the striker should be pushing the Hoops boss to let him go out on loan next season.
If Atichison is able to score goals on loan, it would no doubt grab the attention of the Hoops support, who will demand that he is brought back into the fold.
It would also catch the eye of Rodgers, who would be encouraged by the player’s exploits if he does well on loan.
A move to a team in the Scottish Championship or in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership would seem to be ideal for the player.
It would get him regular first-team football, which he will need to start getting if he wants to make the breakthrough with the Hoops.
With doubts over how long the likes of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard will remain at the Hoops, Aitchison could well be given a chance to make it with the Bhoys – but he needs to start playing regularly soon.
In other Celtic news, a Hoops player’s future must be decided soon
